Rosso

Santa Rosa, California

Design Challenge:

To transform a long-forgotten tenant space in a Santa Rosa strip mall into a family-friendly, foodie-style restaurant that would reinvigorate the area and create a welcoming dining experience.

Physical Context:

Located in Creekside Plaza, a modest strip mall in the heart of Santa Rosa next to Memorial Hospital, the space was previously home to a beloved sports bar known for its dedicated Raiders fanbase but had sat vacant for some time.

Solution:

Rosso Pizzeria and Wine Bar was designed to celebrate the food and wine at the heart of its menu. The focal point of the space is the Mugnaini wood-fired oven, positioned on axis with the front door to create a warm, inviting atmosphere as guests arrive. The bar, featuring a prominently displayed and highly curated wine selection, adds to the restaurant’s foodie appeal, while custom artwork by a local graphic artist gives the space a unique, vibrant character. Rosso’s thoughtful design and family-friendly ambiance made it an instant success, drawing food lovers and families alike.
